Using MORE than Oilve Oil in Soap

Recolive.jpgently we have received a number of requests from visitors to the Moon Haven Soap cottage for olive oil soap.

Certainly there has been a lot more olive oil soap available over recent years due to the rapid increase of olive plantings in Australia.... and more soapmakers are sourcing stunning olive oil from local plantations...as we certainly do at Moon Haven.

Yet an all olive soap doesn't always stack up in the shower.

You see each vegetable oil used in soap gives that soap certain properties. Olive oil in soap gives great skin conditioning and feel to the skin...but its bubbles...well woeful would be a good description. And the lather has been described at times, as stringy and slimy... to be generous we could say it was creamy and smooth - but there is distinct lack of well formed bubble with its accompanying lather.

We could call olive oil only soap as unbalanced.

There are just so many other great oils out there that can give fantastic benefits to skin, as well as the total bathing experience. So we choose to forumlate our soap with four different oils to make for a balanced, bubbly yet wonderfully skin conditioning soap.

They are:

  • Olive oil - for its skin conditioning properties
  • Coconut oil - for is wonderful fluffy, strong bubbles
  • Palm oil from sustainable sources - because it contributes to a strong stable lather, hardness and makes for a longer lasting bar
  • Rice Bran Oil - for its wonderful nutrient rich, anti-oxidant and skin conditioning properties.
The result is a Moon Haven Soap- so deeply skin conditioning it is suitable for people with skin sensitivities, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and yet provides a wonderfully bubbly lather - even in hard water.
