When I am  feeling brain dead, my mind is a fog, then Gotu Kola is the herb I head for. Also known as pennywort and centella (from its Latin name centella asiactica) it  grows in wet places.

This herb is a marvellous revitaliser for nerves and the old brain cells. It is also known as the arthritis herb. For both of these reasons why not include 2 medium sized leaves in your daily  salad .  Eating our herbs fresh, straight from the garden is a wonderful way to keep in touch with the earth and its bounty.

Gotu Kola is a slender, creeping plant that grows commonly in swampy areas Asia. In Australia this amazing herb can be found at most nurseries. It is said to fortify the immune system, both cleansing and feeding it, and to strengthen the adrenals. It has been used as a tonic for purification of blood and for promoting healthy skin. Also, it has been useful to aid in restful sleep, treat skin inflammations, help with the debilitating inflammation of arthritis, and as a mild diuretic.

At Moon-Haven we include this wonderful herb in our herbal skin complex used in many of our moisturisers, body lotions and salves.
