Lavender- Nature's Multipurpose Oil (Fact Sheet)
When anyone mentions essential oils most people think of lavender. While it is a very useful essential oil it must be said that it is not a cure all for every condition.
Lavender... One of the most common herbs and definitely the most popular essential oil is often very misunderstood. For example one drop of Lavendula angustifolia on your pillow at night will help with sleep, but 5 drops is bound to keep you awake! Did you know that there are well over 200 varieties of lavender and each has its own set of properties. For example if you want to relax True Lavender (lavendula angustifolia) is for you but if you are trying to treat a mosquito bite then Spike Lavender (Lavendula latifolia) is the one to go for.We are finding increasing numbers of people who are becoming sensitised to lavender and we feel that is because people are tending to over use it to the point where there body says enough is enough!
So please when applying lavender essential oil to your skin (as with all essential oils) mix it into either a base cream or oil at rates of than 2.5% for the body and 1% for the face.
