Passion

Passion

I have always wondered why some people are passionate about life and others just don't see what all the fuss is about.

Some of us wake up and jump into the day - ok, if you are not a morning person that may mean you get it together by mid afternoon - while others never seem to take that opportunity.

Today I was talking to one of our neighbours... a lovely lady of advancing years.  Her octogenarian husband is also a delight.  Having just returned from up north following the sun for the winter months, this couple know how to enjoy life.

Both are involved in numerous charitable and interest groups, intensely interested in music, playing, singing and listening, learning new languages and actively keeping theirflower and vegetable gardens producing throughout the year. There are never enough hours in the day for either of them.

When catching up today, for the first time in what seems like months, my lady neighbour exclaimed astonishment at her husband's enthusiasm for travel. "You know he's off again" she said to me.

Having just returned from up north I would have thought that travel would be the last thing on his mind.  Envisaging a quick trip to Pemberton or over to the wheatbelt, I was informed that the "trip" is to far away England so he can pursue his genealogy research.

I delight in my neighbours passion for life... the realisation that life is very much for living and for cramming in as much experience into every moment we are blessed with.  This is even more poignat when you realise that our elderly neighbour recently dealt with a debilitating bout of cancer.

Yes life is for living and I want to be just like them when I grow up.
