Sandalwood
Until recently Australian Sandalwood (Santalum spicatum) had been considered the ‘poor mans’ Sandalwood. That was until research confirmed that our Sandalwood oil is up to 25 times more effective than Tea Tree oil
on Golden Staph bacteria, as well as being effective against Candida albicans (thrush), as well as being a strong anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and bactericide. Australian Sandalwood also has reputed strong aphrodisiac qualities!
Unlike Indian sandalwood, which despite regulation, is being over cropped, Australian Sandalwood is being sustainably managed through WA’s Dept of Conservation & Land Management.
Plantations are being planted with ongoing research finding ways of increasing oil yield from existing stocks.
Distilled from the heartwood of the Sandalwood tree, sandalwood oil has many uses in the home. From combining it with a carrier oil for application to dry, inflamed skin and for soothing rashes, to making an inhalation to help ease a dry cough, sandalwood can also be used to uplift & soothe fraught emotional states. Just place a drop onto a tissue and inhale for an instant lift or mix 4 drops in 20ml of milk - add to a full bath for the ultimate in relaxation.
